Hmm. You haven't got 2.5L Pistons have you? Can you find a suringe and measure them? The 3.0S Capri was 9.1:1CR and all others were 8.9:1CR. My understanding this small varience was due to the height the piston comes up the bore at TDC. Piston height maybe the same but the critical distance is between the gudgeon pin and the top of the 'bowl' edge.

Got the NOS crank fitted.  Got a question about the pistons.  In 3 litre form did the Essex engine have either high or low compression pistons.  I ask as my old block has pistions with more scooped out of them than all the other spare pistons I have.  I am guessing that the ones with more scooped out of the crowns are low compression and the others are high compression?  Is this correct? Both sets of pistons are the same length.

New core plugs and a coat red paint.  I know it is a "cheesy" colour, but I have never had a red engine before, and I had already bought the paint.
