what was there flakes left ?? a know some one who had to buy a new chassis for his tvr the original was rotten
Well it needs something to hold the rust flakes together on TVR chassis
It's popular with the TVR club and also classic car owners.
I could be interested too.
I'll give it a go, seems a very good technical write up which would need to be 'proved' and I have one 'on the bench' that will need painting soon. Now then, spoiled for colour choice ... orange bodied car (or will be) colour code or contrast?
Not tried it myself, but read some very good reviews. In my mind, anything is better than powder coat. Powder coat chips and lets water under the coating. - horrible stuff
That looks very interesting, Graham. It would be perfect for a lazy chap like me - it goes on thick and one coat is all it needs. Have you used it yourself and is it as good as they claim?
Not for nothing is hammerite paint known as bodgers paint. I have previously treated a trailer chassis thus: 1-strip back to bare metal, 2-treat with 'rust remedy', 3-paint with zinc phosphate primer, 4-two coats of 'stonechip', 5-high risk areas coated with one to two coats of thinned down waxoil. Many years later still little or no rust showing through despite the trailer living outside for the whole of its life.
