Dutton Kit Cars and their owners

Went and picked up a Phaeton from Big Vern (Cheers mate!) as a rebuild project. Its an S1 but has some S2 bits from the looks of it like the rear bodywork which has the bulges for spring hangers.

The plan is to strip it back to the bare chassis and then build it up from there, new bushes, calipers etc and a new engine just not sure what yet! It came with some goodies such as some Revolution wheels with yokos, a nice stainless exhaust and a new hood.

Looking forward to getting stuck in. Here's some pics, excuse the quality they're from my phone

Getting there slowly, takes much longer than you would think painting the chassis

It almost looks like it is glowing with a halo there, Pete. That's looking good.

Had the day off on friday and spent most of the day with the grinder with wire wheel on and flap disk getting the chassis ready to prime. Went down again yesterday and started giving it a coat of primer, most of it is done just need to flip it back over and do the top rails and rest of the roll bar

Brian came over again today and we finished all the bits on the chassis. All the exposed ends of the box section have been capped, spreader plates for the front wishbones welded in and the panhard rod bracket triangulated. I just need to wire wheel the chassis again and then it can be finally painted! Also bought another t3 turbo today which has a lot less play than the one on the engine.

No worries Dave, your help was much appreciated with the suspension mounts.

Well Brian my friends Dad came over this morning and welded everything up :) all I have left to do is make some caps for the exposed ends of the box section, some plates to go round the front wishbone mount holes and a fish plate for the panhard rod bracket.

The aim is next summer, have a trip to the nurburgring planned and we're booking ferry tickets to spur things on. I think Stoneleigh is ambitious but maybe Newark if I can get this damn chassis finished!

Not much progress lately, still waiting for my friends dad to come and weld up the chassis. Have started cleaning up and priming engine mounts, trailing arms, wishbones etc
