Just been out and about in the Sierra, pleased with the way its going, I actually had to slow down coming up the hill towards home. Never, ever had to slow down on that hill :-)) maybe all the horses are now unleashed?

It too will have had additives Steve, 'to make it burn more efficiently' they said ... and 30 degrees hotter too w*nk*rs

It killed my pinto 202 block engine in 200 miles... It now carries a warning about not to be used in older cars...go figure.

Wasn't there a scandal over these fuels a while back? I ran my camper on ASDA own diesel, had to fill up in Manchester area a while back and used (by mistake) Shell super diesel, blinking expensive, any way the old bus motored down the motorway and I'm sure it went better, but is it because you payed more so got more, plus the wind may have been behind me. YES, it makes a difference.

Old engine out of the leggie ran fine on tesco 'normal' unleaded for 5 years, tried the shell superfuel on a trip to Derby (100 miles exactly) and back, 200 in total. Valve seats shot full of little pits, completely destroyed the valve seats and didn't do the valves much good either. Never used shell fuel since then, did some research on 'tinterweb and found out that the reason it performed so well is ethanol added in an undisclosed amount but known to exceed 10%. Never used shell fuel since then, did some research on 'tinterweb and found out that the reason it performed so well is ethanol added in an undisclosed amount but known to exceed 10%. Probably works lovely in nice new engines but not in an unleaded 40 year old ford driven hard. It got very very hot too, so hot the bonnet distorted above the manifold. Never again, won't even use the diesel in Sues car.
Some wise guy, just visiting…tag:duttonowners.ning.com,2015-02-28:2398922:Comment:1607852015-02-28T10:07:15.295ZSteve Kerswellhttp://duttonowners.ning.com/profile/steveKerswell

Some wise guy, just visiting the shed, has said " now you have a good crossflow you have at least tripled the value of the green meanie". I hope he is not expecting me to do to good a job on his exhaust manifold.

@ Steve... ethanol proof head, nice idea... hmmm

@ Paul, I understand. What about slowing the rate of extraction and ducting the fresh air past the compressor to warm it slightly?

@Ade, how much do favours cost, so far a bottle of malt has changed hands for the machinist. He wrecked 3 cutters doing the valve seats, seems like I used to hard a rod.

@ Paul, extractors sucking? Fan blades turning back to front?
