Alternator fire

Word of warning lads
Replaced the alternator today for a new one from euro car parts
Started it up ,battery light went off "good" I thought
Left it running while I put my tools away
Then heard a loud screeching noise
Ran over to the car,noise was coming from the alternator so turned the engine off
Strong smell coming from it
Then up it went on fire
Put it out straight away with my brew
Good job I didn't just jump in and go !

That sounds really scary. Plastic cars can burn very well, given half a chance. That was a close thing.

Euro car parts quality job then... 

I'd go back to them and threaten to sue... 

They have a reputation in the trade for doing crap parts and now I can see it's not unfounded. As long as you and the car are ok John is all that really matters.
