More progress on the Legerra re-build, A mate came round and did my brake lines for me in about a tenth of the time it would have taken me! then we took the Body down from it's sling in the garage and got it on the chassis, Needed to cut a section out of the bulkhead due to the Zetec Thermostat housing on the back of the head getting in the way.

I also needed to cut  away where the gear stick will be as my gearbox seems to sit a little too high, so i have a few bits of bodywork to repair then i have to work how i'm going to do the roll cage mounting points.

welding on chassis strengthening now finished and i'm happy to report that my doors both open and close smoothly!!!

started with some Sealy stuff that came with the welder, don't know how good it was as never used gasless before. Ordered some Toparc off of Amazon, will let you know how good it is when it arrives later, if it's shit I'll try the one from Halfords, did't even know they did it!!!

there is a huge difference between the different brands of flux cored welding wire....there is a cheap brand i bought that was almost impossible to get good results with unless you used LOTS of power......and blew holes in thin stuff.....

if your buying the fluxed wire for the welder get some SIP branded welding wire from halfords....its dear but it welds MUCH better than the cheaper stuff......less splutter for a start.

Steel arrived this week for strengthening the chassis, i wasn't going to bother as i plan to fit a roll cage but the doors catching on the bodywork was really annoying me. I ordered a 3 metre length and cut it in half so 1.5 metres each side and it looks about right. Got the drivers side completed and about quarter way through the passenger side when i ran out of Mig wire. I recently bought a Gassless MIg that uses a Flux cored wire, tends to splutter a bit but not bad results for a cheap welder. So more wire on order and will finish the passenger side on the weekend, pictures to follow.

Yes mate but not sure how to go about the back stays at the moment, that one will need some thinking, will get the guys round and we'll all stare at it with some beers and see what happens. this is how we get round most problems.

I think everyone on here could relate to that flexibility thing :) Having a solid tube to grab hold of above the screen will help as will a fore-aft brace in the middle.

I assume you are going to replace the existing hoop with proper CDS tube and re do the rear braces as well then.

Will mostly wing it but happy to give you all the measurements when its in and looking right, I'm planning on using two fore & aft braces but they will be fairly close together so more like a T-top otherwise access becomes a nightmare and I'm not as flexible as i used to be!!!!!

I'd be interested in designs and measurements unless you are planning to wing it in situ. Are you thinking windscreen line or door line and one central bar like a T top?
