Sump is baffled. I can't seem to add pictures I think due to the video at the start. I'll try a fresh thread

Done some googling - quite a variety of styles and opinions.  I think the style you describe - with the lip - looks best for me.  The versions with flaps seem a little too complex.

Daryl, that sounds right, thanks. If mine has any baffling I'll post a photo over the weekend.

Hi Paul - I have a non-standard (looks home made) winged sump and think I may have been running with too little oil.  As the engine is out now I will measure the sump to see what the capacity is up to a height that just clears the rotating crank.  I can also add baffles - can you remember what configuration you used for baffles, and what size holes to allow the oil to flow to the pickup?

first time I took my B+ to landow trackday it sufferd oil surge and wrecked the crank and 1 con rod, If you are useing you car for motor sport events I would surgest a winged sump and baffle it. I did this andthe the following year had no problems,

It actually feels very controllable - actually much better than I expected. It does have a 5 link axle and the front has polyurethane bushes, plus (tired) adjustable coilovers. Just finished removing the engine - next is the search for the cause of the knock.

Interesting. That's a bit like bicycle helmets where they reckon a similar thing happens - in particular other road users take more care of an unprotected cyclist then they do of one with all the gear, apparently.

I don't think that I noticed a lot of restraint being exercised in your Dutton though, it looked rather hairy to me. I like a track with a wide run off area (although I've only ever come off twice).

Hi James, so we're we. In fact they insisted we didn't where a helmet! The CofC's experience was that people wearing helmets got carried away and tried too hard - it was a charity 'fun' event rather than a competition.

I'm a little surprised that they didn't insist on crash helmets.
