Dutton Kit Cars and their owners

Been squirreling away a few idea's and parts the last few weeks. Even bought a rusty MX5. So thinking now about a small engine. Like a fiesta 1400 or these 1.25. The easy way is the MX5 engine and box, plus maybe a narrowed MX5 back axle assembly. The mixer is 1800 5speed and a slip diff. Been welded poorly in all the places they rust, but goes really well. Almost a shame to break it up. So back to small engines, any input?

It is going in a B type, which will be small and light, I hope

That all sounds like the sort of good luck that only happens in dreams - long live that dream!

so.....this will all be done for next year steve?

I'm rapidly falling behind Dave, been such a good summer, shame to be sat in the cave. Been out in the blue one enjoying myself, however that is showing a lot of stress marks and cracks now. So yes would love to get it finished and used. To late this year. I have, ordered the Aluminum etc for the sides and tunnel, so will have to get my act together soon.

it was a little tongue in cheek Steve.... they do take a little while to get built. i also would prefer to drive them than build them when the sun is shining...

this was 60 miles out across country. I have racked up some big mileage this year in one day trips. I have not forgotten the B type but this B+ is so much fun

Nice view of the instruments through the steering wheel.

What are your plans for the foot well? Are you going to do ply with fibre-glassed edges, like Dave Adams did? Or sheet ally? I'm asking because I have to do the footwells in my yellow beast.

I know, I keep telling myself that, but the B+ is stealing me away on trips, the weather has been so good, and me being retired, I had to grab the opportunity, to use and abuse the old thing. The darker nights are approaching, mid night oil in the lamps, I'll get there.....one day :-))

Nice picture. The B+ is looking good.

the ply was just shoved in so I could get the pedals in the right spot. I'm waiting for a certain person to supply my aluminum sheets. Nice man who happens to work in a metal supply company. :-)

down time, leaking seals, funny back brake arrangement I am not sure of, twin leading shoes, double ended cylinder. At least its fine and sunny, down 'ere in the west.
