Hi everyone,

I'm working on a new project for a magazine and I need to find a selection of Duttons for a photoshoot – ideally one of each model (as many as we can find). But here's the rub: we want them to look as original as possible, whatever 'original' is in the world of Duttons! I think the best way to describe it is 'not modified too much from the way the factory cars looked'.

Any recommendations/takers? Please drop me a line.

Thanks in advance.

Hi everyone. Just a quick note to say I wrote a feature on Tim Dutton for the latest issue of Road Rat – it’s a few thousand words and the product of a very enjoyable chat with Tim at a coffee shop just across the marina from his factory. Drove down in my Melos to break the ice, he seemed genuinely pleased to see one in the wild. Anyway, more info here if you’re interested: https://theroadrat.com

Hi there ,Hello again, Sorry for lack of using site.. i joined in march, having been a member years ago.. Do you have fees, i.e. does it cost to be a member. I had bought a dutton for spares but not sure what model it is, certainly a phaeton, and wondered if the escort fronts would swap easily enough to my other dutton phaeton/ failing that were all spitfire front brakes the same if i want to get replacement discs and callipers? also where do i get the bushes from for the link bars that…

Haven't seen some melos bashing for long. So ... today I spotted this abomination: https://suchen.mobile.de/fahrzeuge/details.html?id=263191037

This got to be a fake melos reg. If you look closely, you can see that it got the original melos drivers seat! -:)

The Sierra has gone to a new home and that leaves me with some time to spare. As many of you know I have been offered a B type that is in bits. The owner has suffered major health issue since and is unable to help with the uplift and his wife is a bit frail too. The car is situated in a lock up that has a 90 degree narrow access. It hasn't moved for 25 years, however his wife assures me the rolling chassis is on its wheels on axle stands and the tyres are inflated ! Anyone near the M25 south…

Anyone near the M25 south willing to give an hour or so to help with this uplift? I believe the car is close to Caterham. Strange this should come about with all this talk of B types. Also I am open ended with the timing of this shift. A lunch time Saturday may be the best time slot but I am also thinking mid week.
Ebay - DUTTON ROVER 3.5 V8 MANUAL ROAD, RACE CAR HILLCLIMB BARGAINtag:duttonowners.ning.com,2017-04-24:2398922:Topic:2328172017-04-24T19:40:45.538ZJames Doultonhttps://duttonowners.ning.com/profile/JamesDoulton

There is an interesting V8 Dutton on ebay which looks pretty good - 122459510528

The guy is asking £3400 for it, including the trailer, so not a ridiculous price but that partly depends on what has been done to it.
The guy is asking £3400 for it, including the trailer, so not a ridiculous price but that partly depends on what has been done to it. It is rather difficult to know whether it is a bargain with lots of trick parts or not. The seller says that it has a race tuned engine but the pictures look fairly standard apart from the throttle cables. It occurred to me that the reason that he had no takers might be because other people had the same thoughts. I imagined that if I asked him then maybe he'd realise what was missing and add my query and his response to the listing. Seems fairly sensible, yeah?

So I asked the guy "Can you provide more information on the engine modifications that have been done or the parts that are fitted?"

The response I got was "No I cant who the hell do you think I am a Tranny ????"

I wonder if everyone is like that in Wimborne, or is it just the effect that I have on people?
bit quiet on 'eretag:duttonowners.ning.com,2016-10-15:2398922:Topic:2244322016-10-15T19:09:34.810ZSteve Kerswellhttps://duttonowners.ning.com/profile/steveKerswell

Are you all busy doing other things, Christmas shopping? decorating? building a Dutton or two? or watching Strictly come X factor thing? Reading CKC wishing it was your car featured? or as my mum would say "cat got your tongue?" :-)

According to FB we are now trailing our replacement NING site on FB. I don't think so, Mark I have no problem with you starting a FB site for Dutton Owners, but stop making out that it is replacing this site.

WE have been getting along on here for many years, THIS IS NOT THE OFFICIAL FORUM FOR THE DOC, it is a private site.
