Dutton Kit Cars and their owners

I have been busy to day doing yet more work to my car, this time making a new grille. Here's how i did it;

I bought my self some aluminium square tube of about 6mm each side, 1m long. and 4m of 20x2mm aluminium flat bar, i used my electric mitre saw to cut the aluminium, the square tube into 4 x 8" lengths then i taped them all together to then cut slots into them at 1" spaces

After all this lot was prepared it was a matter of assembling it and aluminium welding (using the zinc solder method)

to shape it to the nose cone "V"  shape i used the mitre saw to cut half way from the back, and bent the aluminium to shape.

here you can see the result a little better,

and here is a pic on the car,

I am not sure it will stay silver, i think it will be sprayed black.

not bad for a half days work.
