I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place at present. I will see what the official stance is tomorrow and hopefully move forward. Got a load of 25mm box section today and 2 lengths of 20 thrown in as well, so ready to start adding to the chassis.
SAH used to be the Triumph tuners for Spitfire/Vittesse engines. I believe Canley classics have 'reproduced' some of the SAH products and they come up from time to time on fleebite. BMC A series is a very easy to tune engine with lots of second hand goodies still around. Sadly I gave away most of my A series bits just recently otherwise you would have been welcome to them.
engine and boxes were not up to much, so after much plowing through a muddy field I decided to give it a miss :-)
That guy we got the bits off in Tavistock has loads of engines and boxes from Triumph Spitfires, I'm off to have a "mooch" around :-)
The bodywork is in good condition, just a few scuffs. It is however very flimsy and lightweight.
Well, that now depends on this new dvla stuff. Seems you could lose your tax free status if you upgrade the motor. So with that in mind I have been looking at A series and have been offered an old spitfire engine with overdrive box. But I really wanted to use this MX5 gear I have here, knowing it's a good engine and box. I have an appointment next week with dvla, yes I'm going to Wales, in a hope of getting a V5 for this car, or should I say the V5 for this car. Hopefully learn some more about this historic thing. There is loads on the web, but what do you believe?
