Took a day out, been up on the quiet roads around Dartmoor, down into Cornwall back across the bridge to home. B+ went well, bit chilly at times, wife loved it, roll on Sunday. Engine mounts tomorrow, welder back on Friday. Hope to make some inroads by dark. Decided to persuade the rear of the crossmember and maybe lower the rack a tad, give me some play room.

does anyone know how many mk1 sierras were built ...?

the engines do sit high to the front.....by quite a bit. look at the carb, it will sit level to the road surface...the engine will sit at something like 5-10 degrees.

just found these in my pile of crap corner :-)) nope, they dont quite fit, bother.

ordered new  "slim" mounts, will concentrate today on getting the motor and box settled correctly, then modify what I have to what I need. Once my little TIG set is back from the service centre. Surprisingly the Sierra sits level both ways so thats a bonus. Trying now to get the carb level both ways, looks like the engine tilts back slightly to get this, any comments gladly considered :-))

weld a new bit across the top......rise it about 2".........should still clear the bonnet.

Its about 15mm when leveled so should be OK. will form a bridge piece and decide how to fix it, box section is super thin (cheap) so may pay to weld some stiff bits on first.

That looks good. I assume that you are bolting a bit of removable tube across the gap so you can get the rocker cover off okay.
