No burnt wiring. I just lack the skill to put in a new harness so I am thinking about shortening wires and adding new connectors.

"Started examining some of my wiring today. One wire had two separate fuse holders in line on it and one fell apart when I looked at it. I am thinking about shortening all the extremely long wires under the dash to make them more traceable."

Turns out flashing unit is up under the center of the dash behind the blinker light.
