Capri's use an offset mount front to rear on pinto engines and depending on which way you fit them can push the engine forwards of backwards. Coming forward will cause serious fouling on the crossmember, going back will cause the engine to foul the bulkhead and crossbrace. Alloy RS ones are silly expensive but the standard escort ones do hold everything in the right place.
2.0 from a Capri S. No worries Ade, MT75 from a Cossie. Prop from a land rover! Steering is fouling, more brain work and looking at your piccies.
I used escort engine mounts and a steel cam cover - its VERY close to the lower crossmember but doesnt hit it, no need to modify the scuttle x bar. You need to fit a strut brace if you cut that out.
I thought you told me it was a 1600, if not then I will happily stand corrected.
Just spent the last half hour flat on my back, thinking. If I chop out the gearbox crossmember and do a Ade type mod, I might just get away with it. Still may have to notch the scuttle crossmember, or make a new one. It'll get there, big day today was getting motivated. Now it's started I'll be at it. Mr Sheridan has given me an insight into where the V8 is headed, but that's way out on a limb at present.
1600???
1600....
Sitting on the steering rack! Gearbox tunnel is 100mm to small at the tail. Needs angry grinder. That upper crossmember has to go, as you said before, gear lever is 100mm further back, and the gearbox mount is the same. So this is just "first fix". My tig welder went pop, so this is just to fill in time. MT75 is a big box at the tail, plus it's got that balance flange thingy. More tomorrow ??
Is that sitting on the engine mounts, or as i suspect sitting just in front of them?
Courtesy of Big V. Have to fit a drain to it, can't remember where :-))
