This is how my Dutton started his Dutch life. As you can see the British license plate is still on. Based on my research the Dutton moved from the UK to Holland in the summer of 2012. Does anyone recognise the car and may be knows the UK - history. The donor car was Ford Escort Mk II from 1978, also based on my research.…

Here I am, also a Dutton owner!
Since a few weeks a Dutton owner. I started to look for a Donkervoort, Westfield, MK Indy but after a look at my motorbikes and Bank account I decided to start "low profile", in fact low budget.
And I bought a Dutton Pheaton S3, 1978, with Honda CBR 1000 engine.
Nice configuration but I have to spend some time on it to get it on my quality level.
So I will.

AhHa, well I got one of them too Bert, so am well qualified ;-)))))
i like your spirit bert. well the super guys on here can help you all the way ..
thats good bert. i think your engine may be dead.
that reverse gearbox, is it a quaife? lots of euro's :-))
that dont sound good bert
Chassis%201.jpgAnd,
There is a strange sound in the engine and it is spitting cooling liquid (I think a leakage in the cylinder head)
and I want to inspect the drive train and I don't like the gearbox (heavy, oil leaking and only there for the reverse) so I have a small restoration in mind. :-).
Dutton%206.jpgHi James,
thx for your welcome. I think the configuration is okay. The bike engine is powerful and in fact I am a biker so the connection with my (other) love is guaranteed. And yes, one of the characteristics of a bike engine is that the power comes out at the higher revs, compared with a car engine.
But due to the low weight of a kitcar I think it is acceptable.
So, I need more revs but not 12.000 and at the same time, I like it! The sound comes with the revs. :-).
Bert
Welcome to the site. How well does the Dutton go with a bike engine? Do you need lots of revs to get away from standstill?
welcome Bert, interesting set up, would love to see pictures .
