I've been following the kit car scene since the 80's and have done GTMs and also a Sylya stylus (that I still have)
Had gap from it all for about 10 yrs but recently decided to get back in with my son, with a view to racing
I always liked the Phaeton and i see it as something of a classic - plus they're cheap
The story so far is that I bought a Phaeton body and chassis although i don't think they match as the body is well used but the chassis appears almost new (apart form green algae)
Not being that impressed with the original 30yr old Dutton engineering I thought I'd apply some of the Jeremy Philips design elements from the stylus. This was 'helped' by the fact that the body is incomplete without its interior moulding and that there was almost nothing to strip out.
So chassis mods abound starting with extra triangulation, totally different engine mountings cutaways to suit a Zetec engine and type 9, 5 speed gbox
It's taken about 3 months to get to this point!
