Dutton Kit Cars and their owners

Hey again everybody,

I'm finally getting started on rebuilding my old lady, Dorie. This blog is intended to summarize the rebuild of Dorie for your interest and for the interest of further rebuilds. I try to fill it with a as much information as possible.

At first, I few words on me: I just finished my Bachelor thesis and continue with the masters degree with further 2 years of education. Since the subject is quite theoretical, I wanted a practical thing to get my hands on. After rallying with my dad in some local events with a Fiat Uno for two years and driving a 1978 Fiat 128 3p Berlinetta during my high school time I'm obsessed with (old) cars. When I spotted a Dutton for sale online it was clear to me, that I finally found what I was looking for. Here's a pic from the past

In December last year I bought Dorie as a project. That was during the final progress of my Bachelor thesis and that's why I couldn't get a hand on it until now. She is from 1984 and spent at least the last 4 years in a barn since she's been on any road.

Since it's not 100 % clear which components are currently used in the car, my first step is categorizing the parts. I hope a few experienced views of you can help me out a little, since I'm not in to Ford parts (yet). For a better overview there will be single blog entries for each part / topic.

So, here goes the rebuild of Dorie ...

Hey. Thanks! Yeah, I'm eager to get the body from Adrian. Yet I couldn't find a neat solution for transport, but there are various requests pending. I read about your looms the other day and was quite happy about the idea since the loom contained is a mess. I'll let you know, when I'm occupying the electrics.
