Dutton Kit Cars and their owners

had an informal interview for a job lined up yesterday....and the sierra refused to start so i have to try to rearrange it for sometime today.  Ignition i thought....poxy points and condenser again, so i thought anyway but not. well after flattening two battery's and it only coughing and spluttering it was time for a proper diagnosing session.

It turns out that one of my rubber pipes joining the polythene fuel pipe to the engine had perished (Its fairly new having only been on the car a couple of years)  and was letting in air...and therefore no fuel.....dead handy it got me home friday night (50km drive, thirty miles) cos it pee'd down the whole way and sorting the problem at the side of the road in the rain and pitch dark is not my idea of fun.
