3 point harness seat belts.

A dilemma if ever I saw one, I need to fit harness eyebolts (2 each side) to the floor of the phaeton S1. Got underneath it yesterday with a cunning plan on bolting on or welding a metal bar from one side of the car to the other and then attach eyelets through the floor and into the bar.

Problem is, there is nowhere to attach the metal bar to as the leaf springs are in the way (unless I shape the bar to fit).

How did the factory suggest this could be over come and what have you done

Appreciate your comments as getting closer to MOT

The rusty chassis pic looks a little like an S3 chassis......if I could see more of it I would be sure.

My ones bolt through the seating tub and through the chassis box section just below the triangular brace for the rollbar, in the picture you can see the hole, and the release buckles bolt to the box section behind the roll bar, again you can see the hole in the centre.

mine is an S1 running cortina leaf springs , i dont have the box section you mentioned. I do have the one after it though (the one resting on the axle stand !).

For some reason they have been bolted to the box section in front of yours , thats great if you want the seat right up against the dashboard and you are 4 foot 2 (no offence to short people)

This is gonna be fun.

That is a good example of an S2 chassis........easy to spot.
