Dutton Kit Cars and their owners

There are slipper pads on the ends of the leaves of spring 2 and spring 3, round plastic/nylon. Can't find a replacement part source on ebay or 'the usual suspects' websites. One of my multileaf springs has no pad left, just the remains in the hole in the spring. Anyone else found this issue, found a replacement part or do I have to buy the stuff to make some?

They look good enough to eat. Pontefract cakes with nipples :-))

LOL

Thanks for that mental image Steve...

Stop it now or regret it later...

I suppose I'll have to make them in orange as well, just to match the rest of the Sierra bushes.

So, the result of a hard days scuplting, well half a day, actually more like a couple of hours...

Couldn't get a pot with all one colour so its odd... but then that helps to see the layers .

IMAG0611I made this on the lid of an old curry pot so I can use the other bit as a cover to protect it.

Plan is to cast resin ones tomorrow then make a silicon mould from them so I can reproduce them as required.

Two sets per spring, take about three hours to cast and demould. These are 50mm diameter and can be made up to 5mm depth using the larger white mould.

And this is the result of the resin cast. Due to my incredible manual dexterity I got all of them out without needing to repair the moulds (much). The lower one will be duplicated after its been cleaned up (still tacky) and I'll make a set of moulds with four discs and two pads so I can do one three leaf spring set at a time.

I stuck the ruler under it and its 52mm diameter, good enough as they don't fit into anything, just sit on the spring. The locating pin is (surprisingly) 12.5mm, the top one being 4mm high and the bottom is 8mm.

The U channel needs the run of cleaning up and a file run over it but on comparison with the plastic one looks to be about the same dimensions. As it has a steel band clamped round it i'm pretty sure it's going to work even though its flat at the moulding stage.
