thankyou very much. my melos is based on a mk1 escort. shame it doesnt have the original reg. for some reason dlva would not let the car builder do this. any ideas why some have donor cars reg...and some dont...bit confused with that. thanks again brian

are that makes a lot of sence now....my suspension and most of other things were from mk1 escort...however the engine gearbox and diff is from a mk2 corteena....so its bits of allsorts.. still very old though.. just wish it was tax exempt.. thanks for your info. so glad i joined this site. just spent 5hrs undersealing the little bugger. think their is more on me than the car..ha ha.

lol

lol funny. just been skrubbing my ears with a nail brush....nice.  my ears now same colour as my car. o found the chassi number...(what a plonker. you would think the massive silver plack would have given it away..) mmm i find dvla not very helpfull....twats. whats the deal with the seats in the back are they legal without seatbelts..? many thanks...:-)

the phaelos.... i have posted pics before... it exists..

to keep the original reg you just had to ask for it if you could claim it was all or mostly from one donor, if you wanted a new registration you just paid the tax on the cost of the build, it was always cheaper to keep the original reg, but most folks lied about the costs and got a new reg.....then the "Q" plate system started and at first folks wanted them......then they didn't. it also got slightly harder to keep the donor plate. and a lot harder to get a new registration so much so that it almost became unheard of for a dutton to get a new registration plate after about 1982....ish

Fascinating story.

there was a myth about a side tunnel under farningham hill, supposed to be an end point for an escape train from whitehall.cold war legend...
