Dutton Kit Cars and their owners

I have been running the legerra for 3 years now and despite regular tune-ups, and constant use have never managed more than 160 miles on a tank of unleaded.

Today I filled up with the new 'fuel saver' unleaded from shell and managed over 200 miles and still not dropped into the red. Now part of that could possibly be attributed to me not giving it a boot full, running with an empty boot that is, but never could it be attributed to my 'economical' driving style... because I don't do economy...

I just went to Derby and back on one tank, never managed that before and the car is running dog rough as one of the valves isnt closing properly. So is shell 'fuel saver' any good? Well I'm now a convert, Absolutely fantastic.

Now I wonder what the shell 'V-Power' does?

I have been asking about for a spare head, but it seems there is less urgency now, i'll keep looking if you like, you never know when a spare head will come in handy.
Cheers Dave
I will need one for the 205 block that Martin at the fuel injection centre is rebuilding for the other legerra.
Its going back on the engine block that I just nicked mine from.
I may also try to get a sierra EFI as a donor for the phaeton, I quite fancy changing over to an IRS all I will have to do is shorten the driveshafts and propshaft and as we are quite close to a propshaft specialist (North West Propshafts)

I should get the Leggy back monday night so I am looking forward to reporting back on the new bits and how much difference its made.
Well I got the old girl back today and she still seems a bit poorly.
I need to spend some time fiddling with some of the bits that got moved, get em put back in the right places.
I will see in the morning if I can start it and it may need a bit of time to settle down. It certainly needs one new stud on the manifold to downpipe joiner and the exhaust needs fetling with a 4lb'er as its got a little blow.
It might just be that the new fast road cam wasnt such a great idea for every day use, tickover is a little bit lumpy but it seems to be reluctant to pull away on full throttle, bogging down is the technical term I was looking for.
I'll tweak the exhaust tomorrow and see what happens.
The old head was really bad, never seen anything like it. Scrap is a good word for it.
Never used lead replacement ever.
Its a bit too chilly to be under the bonnet tonight, although I did fit a new fan belt and engine earth yesterday, after work, in the dark, torch between the teeth type thing... Too cold.
I have heard that the lead replacement pellets dont work any better than homeopathy does, but try it and report back
