I have a parts washer, old baking tray and some of Dave's 50/50...oh and an old paint brush...

I have a list of reg numbers that would need to be checked on the DVLA database to see if they are legal. I can't release that data and really don't have the time to sit here checking them. Thats is of course if they are registered as just Dutton on the make field... Add the possible permutations and its a mammoth task.

If anyone is really, really bored then use the numbers from my photo collection and check some.

Here is the link to my flickr account.

Here is the link to the DVLA vehicle enquiry page.

I want the results tabulated in excel and on my desk in the morning. Don't be surprised at not getting a result back from a simple search as more than a few don't show up as just Dutton. Good luck Mr Bond...

Mot'd, taxed and on the road1 Phaeton S3 here in Cumbria

At any one time, less than a quarter of people who own Duttons were actually club members. When the 6000th Dutton kit was bought there were about 1000 club members. Just look at how often Duttons that don't belong to club members appear on ebay compared to club ones. If that ratio is still in force today then there must be at least 1000 people who own Duttons in the UK. I would have thought that there must be at least 300 of them that are roadworthy, but the numbers could be quite a bit higher.

Whether the DVLA has them as DUTTON on the V5C is another matter - there will be many that don't have the word DUTTON anywhere on the V5C, as was common early on.

James, you can't really apply this level of logic. Some years ago it was suggested by a previous mem sec that more than a 1/4 of all dutton kits sold never made it to the road. It is true the club once had a thousand members but that included associate members such as family, they were counted to make the DOC look like one of the biggest clubs. There are some ppl in the doc who don't own a dutton and some who own duttons who refuse to be part of the dutton comunity. There is no way to know for sure but the turn out at kit car shows and other similar shows and events suggest there arn't that many on the road in the uk. Indeed from what our foreign dutton comunities have shown there may well be more on the road in europe that the uk. This doesn't surprise me as the europeans value their duttons!

how about this..we start a different discussions.....ppl put a pic of their car..(no chass no....) to post the car must be on road. no other comments. like starting our own database. ano its basic but its a start....what you all think...?

more than one dutton had more than one chassis number........that will account fr a few  percentage points of cars
