Lo and behold, opened a storage box to find it full of wire, thought it was heavy.

Halfway down the box is a plastic bag from premier wiring still complete with all connectors, that just saved me £115 which I consider a bit of a win.

Also found a couple of rolls of light duty battery cable, some earth straps, some biggish spiders of the 8 legged variety. A pair of brand new cheapo door mirrors, some sheets of polycarbonate, a turbo charger and another half a turbo, no idea what they are from but will post some pics up tomorrow so all you geeky types can play guessing games.

i found a 1600e wiper assembly today

Who was after a melos hard top? One on ebay for 99p, just don't ask him to post it to you.

If this would fit my s3 I would be interested! Could collect to :)

Great!!!! just at a time when i am going to be almost skint, for most of the month   oh well, sob, throws  tantrum ,

Actually i am  not sure  if the S3 is the same part  doesnt it have an opening rear glass  because of the bonnet?

The hard top looks like a “short“ roof fitting like a soft top does.

If you look at the Dutton build manual, the hard top for the S3/4 is longer ,  you might be able to make it fit, but with one hell of a lot of cutting and remaking ,

There were often two types of hard tops “long“ ones and “short“ ones if that hard top fitted a melos it would be a “short“ top and i believe the cockpit opening was the same for the S3+4‘s as well as for the Melos. so hopefully it will be compatable. sure of it myself. i stand to be corrected.

You are right that the openings are the same size  thats why the melos soft top is the same as the s3/4,  i was going by the picture in the build manual, i wasnt aware of a short and long hard top  , i,ve had a look at what i can afford, and as long as it doesnt go to high  and i cut back on some un needed things this week, i can find some cash, so ive had a punt , i know someone via  work who happens to live very near to dartford

i would have had a bid at it, but its just too far away ,,,,

I'm not sure if it will fit a Phaeton because the base of the rear panel of the roof is curved to fit on the curved back of the Melos. It is quite noticeable in the second picture on ebay. I wouldn't have thought that the Phaeton would be the same shape there - they look very flat to my eye. I could measure the curve on my Melos's hard top, if you'd like. In fact, I could do a whole load of measurements if it would help.

it will fit, it may even be a Melos one. I have the full length hard top which needs a bitof woork as some knob cut the back off it before got it. I have a plan to use it through winter, which will be all year looking out the window.
