hi chaps on the pinto efi their is a rubber pipe that comes from the block to the air intake tube. what is it their for. and should it have some kind of filter in it. as mine is letting a small amount of oil into the air intake ....witch eventually will clog the flap in the ecu.

Crankcase oil vapour breather, should have a PCV valve on the block end of the pipe. Later Sierras didn't have the little catch tank on the bottom like the crossflow/pinto setup. Best way round it is a small oil receiver tank and blank the manifold hole with something.

It can be cleaned with brake cleaner or petrol (make sure to dry it after)

Yours looks to be one with a ¬ fitting

nothing in it to go wrong Brian, clean it out and it'll go for a lifetime. Have you changed the oil?

thanks ade and steve. yes the oil was changed about 300 miles back. why steve...?

Dirty oil gets thin and burns, plus vaporized fumes get past the poppet valve. No real reason, just asking :-)
