It has come to my notice (by 3 doc members so far) that because matters were not to some members liking at the AGM that they are planning a coup and wish to usurp the DOC to their prefered committee irrespective of the members expressed wishes. Whilst I have some sympathy with those wishes a secret gang plotting is not the way to do it. I was asked by all of the 3 members to stay out of it......however I wasn't included so I had to rely on those good friends to keep me in the loop.
I have decided to get involved...
Is this the way to organise or reorganise a car club? A secret club of petulant committee members?
I have always been in favour of abiding by the rules even if i don't like them. .....and that is why I was kept out of it (this coup......) because I play by the rules. And I am glad I was kept out of it....
This is a single marque car club not the freemasons.
I work for the best interests of the DOC and the Dutton marque. Not my own personal interests. I wish more felt the same way.

I have offered to fund and set up a private forum for this exact purpose for the DOC membership, but only two people (I think) made comment on the idea. To be honest, I think of this site, as a club, where I can talk to like minded friends about a common interest ....... No politics, No fees, No problems, must be why we are all here in the first place :-)))))))
It is all perfectly proper for people to discuss in private what they think is wrong with the club and how they would like to improve it. Some people do it by phoning others, some by private emails, some using the PM's on here. There is nothing wrong with that. It is not a "backroom deal" - that is just an inflammatory and emotive response. A real backroom deal is when someone in power (i.e. none of us) avoids the democratic process and does deals to favour their friends or to feather their own nest. Talking in private is different and should be encouraged. So let's leave out the melodrama as that just damages relationships.
The club has problems and something needs to be done to stop it from imploding. The people who use this forum are not the problem - this is a lively and useful resource and all of the participants are valuable and important. If the club is to make a new, more invigorated start then it is very likely that it will be the people that are on here that will be involved because these are the people who currently are active Duttoneers.
Obviously any attempts at changes have to be within the club rules, but that doesn't mean that people can't talk about a coup - it's just that it can't happen. Of course, if committee members chose to resign or let their membership lapse, then that is a different matter.
Lets get some facts on the table as it were.......
At the AGM there were approximately 10 committee members and 14 ordinary members. The committee on the whole (myself included) voted for change. The membership voted for the status quo. They out numbered the committee and so got their way.
Some committee members didn't like that so resigned there and then.
Subsequently there has been a great deal of noise about the undemocratic system and how some committee members have opposed change. You can work out yourself from where.
Some committee members and ordinary members have tried to make changes happen that reflects those originally proposed at the AGM. Because I disagree with the methodology they employed I am getting flack. As are other members.
The rank hypocrisy of some folks bleating about lack of democracy when undertaking forced change by a "private email " through a self selected group of like minded individuals is enough to make a politician blush.
Grow up daryl....you were there as was every other member of the committee (almost) with you its your way ot the highway. ......perhaps other people have valid points and perhaps your wrong. Wierd I know but just think it could happen.
Have I missed something here Steve ???
some things never change some things stay the same......
little kingdoms for little people. the world is full of petty demigods.
the fact is i never started this. but at least my conscious is clear, i acted for the best interests of the DOC>
