Dutton Kit Cars and their owners

I've had a pretty sh*t week, then today, or I should say this morning things started to pick up. Bolts went in, datum marks picked up and the sun came out, stopped for lunch and the the whole thing started going wrong again. Made a great pedal box, but it didn't fit. clutch pedal hits the tunnel and the master cylinder hole is 1/4 off. Lot of work went into that box so I cut the tunnel and filed the hole, simple enough but time consuming. Now all fitted, just ! Getting dark and I've called it a day. Going to the beach tomorrow, going to get wet, going to blow away these bad vibes, anyone else having a bad week, is it due to Melos owners aligning with their other self causing this run of bad luck ?

No, its not just you Steve.

I spent ages doing this vented disc conversion salvaging as much as possible from the spare parts box, refurbing  etc... When you bolt the discs to the hubs and offer them up onto the axle they hit the standard escort mk2 back plate in a big way. The caliper fixing kits are the wrong thread and I bet the first time the car gets used in anger the paint all burns off.

Could they be coming into season? Melos owners ringing their bells everywhere, like those darn morris dancers :-))

Well if they can get the Hadron Collider up and running it will encourage us struggling Duttonowners just how simple things are. My dear old dad would say "it's a bit of inert metal lad, it can't think of move without your input, now put it right"

Have got confirmation today that the Sierra is back on the computer at DVLA. Now they want me to sorn it or I risk a fine !!

Its bloody historic, won't cost anything... is it out of MOT or something Steve?

Saucer of milk for Mr Heasman...
SORN is usual under these circumstances, it's just a promise not to drive it on the road unless its to or from a place of repair or MOT station.

Even the law has paid me a visit, informing to sorn it, even if it's only a week. Seems dvla are on the warpath, seems they have taken loads of flack and have to show results, I suppose it could be the election tax avoidance thing.

The police have been very supportive, once it was proved that last year the car was legal, but it shows up as sorn. Luckily I was one of hundreds, now to see if I can get some compo. from these pesky tyre seller's.

B+ fuel pump, doesn't. Found a spare facet pump and now it does. How come a solid state fails, still rattling when on but no pumpy pumpy. Stupid car.

the facet fuel pumps MUST be positioned at 45 degrees relative to the fuel inlet and outlet piped or they dont pump......

You will have to give me a picture of that, Dave, as I have a facet pump waiting to be fitted.

Mine sits on a bracket at 45 degrees. The one that packed up is an e bay copy of a facet pump. It's less then 4 years old. The facet is about 15 years old, you pay your money etc. You don't get ought for nought.
