well scrap yard hunting got me some bits for my car....the lancia engined project. not the green one which incidentally is getting sold as soon as i can be bothered to advertise it.
so i have a Ford escort radiator (one of the last ones...it had a "zetec" 1.6 engine in it) with its enormous fan, a VW polo expansion tank both cost a total of £25 so not to bad as they look to be in really good nick.
i still need a gearbox, and if anyone (Steve if your interested let me know) wants the lancia 5 speed box and tuning parts talk to me a PX for a gear box is well on the cards.....
now before i go and start bidding on ebay, anyone got or know of a type 9 gear box?
i do have a Lampredi 5 speed gearbox (lancia / fiat gearbox) which could be swapped and most of a lancia twincam as well....
mind you a quick search throws up some interesting engines that will fit the lancia gearbox......the fiat v6 2.0L dino....they must be common.....not.
i know wheres theres a type 9 but it comes with a pick-up ,lol,,
thought i had some one interested but its gone quiet,,
well my S1 has just gone through another MOT,
some advisory's leaking n/s/f shocker.....that's a bit irritating as they have only done 22000 miles from new,
play in rack.....same as last year but it does need replacing now,
oil leak......its a ford nuff said....but its only a dribble from the gear box tail shaft and its a new seal..C'est la vie.
oh yeah CO was at 6%......that's a bit high :-) the adjusting screw just would not budge so i took the air filter off....it was enough to get it through. a new filter might be a good idea although it isn't that bad.
now when i say not that bad i mean that it is a little dirty, the filter works fine.....
early finish from work and thought i would go scrap yard fishing....got quoted £20 for a nearly new Fiat Sciento radiator and fan, plus £20 for a pair of BMW 3 series Touring (estate) rear lights and £5 for a centre switch panel for the Fiat partly because it has a nice hazard switch....so £45 for the lot........
so once parts were removed from the cars i went back to pay and the guy added it up to.......£25 so i paid up and legged it.
p.s. i did ask if he was sure and he said yeah mate £25......i tried ....not too hard though.
I'm truly shocked Mr Adams !!!!!! what with you being a fine upstanding Duttoneer and all. You should, at the very least tried to have beaten him down another fiver :-))
Poxy clutch cable snapped AGAIN tonight this one lasted less than 2000 miles.......
next car is getting hydraulic clutch.
luckily i had a spare cable at home its longer by a fair bit than the RS2000 cable i was using. it has a code of MTX1147 on the packet ....Mk3 cortina? what ever i need another before this one goes as well.
mind you i am getting quite good at clutch-less driving now i can go through the whole box up and down with out crunching.....
Have you got a buffer fitted on the pedal box for the clutch pedal? I fitted one so the pedal bottoms out before the clutch fork, that way the cable is not inadvertently over stretched.
