Dutton Kit Cars and their owners

some pics of the rebuild process,

the top trailing arm bracket is broke......

the diff is sloping back a little (looking up) so that will need sorting.......

As you can see there isn't a lot of bracing in an S1 chassis, that will be sorted.

did someone go for a drink with grandpa and end up feeling drained ;-)))

Have been looking for a car to sign write to advertise my business, have bid on a few Robin Reliant vans ........ but this would be the dogs doodah's  :-)

BV It's a Leggera I think it's got doors.

well i have bought a non registered Dutton S1 with a lancia/fiat 2.0l twin cam for spares......i hope to soon make a start on my rebuild.......again.

dave are you going to use the ,twin cam ,???

that is my plan Mike, a lighter more powerful engine is just too tempting...

Spare dutton has arrived at home.......the fun and rebuild begins.

sweet bet you carnt wayt to get started

Nice one. Whats the plan? use the chassis from that or cut that chassis up to repair yours? Any pics?

it looks like the "new car" will be rebuilt and put back on the road, here are some pictures......

and....

and again....

and finally......

here might be a problem, i was told it was a 140 hp engine and very quick. I don't know how he knew its obvious that this engine has not run in years....its partly dismantled and in the boot there were two spare cam carriers. it does look like a viable rebuild, and the gearbox looks like a lancia box as well. Sandra wants me to rebuild this one as she thinks its likely my S1 is "an unlucky" car and it doesn't like her. Also the new car looks like its "happy" in its new home.???

Looks like a good base for the project, plenty of space in the engine bay.
