some pics of the rebuild process,

the top trailing arm bracket is broke......

the diff is sloping back a little (looking up) so that will need sorting.......

As you can see there isn't a lot of bracing in an S1 chassis, that will be sorted.

I was going to cut off the threaded ends and put them in the pillar drill at work and drill them out then sleeve them  should i  make the sleeves shorter to allow for compression?

Martin's mounts will be the escort round bobbin type, don't think you can cut out the threaded bits as they are two separate inserts bonded to the rubber. Bolting right through will just make it a solid engine mount. It was the cheat for bangers where solid engine mounts weren't allowed.
Turning the Anglia engine mount upside down is also bad as when the bonding fails the engine falls out - literally :-0

I'd just cut a slot in one of the plates Martin so you can slide it in place and then bolt it up

I,ve had a play with it this morning, you there stop sniggering,!! ive put the jack under the bell housing and i can move the engine over enough to get the mounts in, so as long as i can get the nuts off, whoops what did i just say:)) i should be ok.

Not when ypu have cross bolted them like mine.......
;-) :-)

Vern mine arn't, they are square section rubber mountings i do have some spare round type handy if these are no good though, either way i,ve got to take them into work to put them in the vice to ease off the nuts and clean the threads   as both sets have seized nuts

Well new bonnet catch. has been made and fitted, the bonnet noa fits very well. alternator now refitted and adjusting bracket repaired.
just radiator ducting to make and radiator grille to assemble a lick of paint and were done.

Well the car has paint on it and the  headlights fitted.....new 7" h4 hella headlights were £17 each from an ebay seller who just happens to be in Hull so a quick visit was made and they are in the car. the indicators are an issue for me as the use festoon bulbs and they are only 10w so my indicator relay is flashing too fast, i don't have time before Stoneleigh to correct the fault or fit a different bulb holder, they'll do for now.

i have also made myself a new radiator grille like the one i had before from aluminium flat bar. I have also cured a miss fire caused by a loose tappet adjusting post (these are a pain in the bum as the ones closest to the carb are really tricky to adjust and tighten the lock nuts)

Minor disaster today i went to move my steering wheel and the column to steering wheel nut has rounded off and it won't free off. removing it is likely to knacker the column. so anyone got a spare triumph steering column please ?

Can you split the nut with a chisel vertically from top to bottom just far enough in to miss the column threads Dave? it should loosen the nut even if the cut is not right through  it, , then if you cant get some grips on it try tapping a smaller size socket on to it to turn it, worth a try i think, good luck :-)

Just to add to Daves suggestion, drill a hole through the nut, as close to the threads as you can, use a size of drill that will leave about 1mm before the edge of the nut, then use a small cold chisle to fracture what's left of the nut either side of the hole. Even better to also drill the nut the other side of the column.

Good idea Paul.
