Dutton Kit Cars and their owners

some pics of the rebuild process,

the top trailing arm bracket is broke......

the diff is sloping back a little (looking up) so that will need sorting.......

As you can see there isn't a lot of bracing in an S1 chassis, that will be sorted.

Soft top was annoying me so I dug the hard top out of storage.....it will at least get the doors correctly fitted and allow me to get the car on the road over winter.

The hard top looks good. The soft top must be for a different make altogether.

This is the soft top.....some warming might help....might.

It looks like it was designed to fit over a complete folding mechanism rather than a couple of roof bars. Also designed for someone with a long neck...

Someone had a bad day when they made that hood !
Just looks "wrong"

no really!

i dont think that even the fan heater trick will save this one..... :-)

Door hinges.......i have 8 right hand ones.....they dont do left hand hinges.

asked about and found someone who just sells left hand hinges, maybe they should talk to each other.....

so back on the computer and look again. Europa spares sell two left hand hinges and two right hand hinges for £8.00....? so why couldn't i find them the other week?

on its wheels and able to driven out of the garage under its own steam......

it is LOW though, i planned for 4" under the spoiler......and its got exactly that...it needs a little more i think.

only 23" to the wheel arch.....i can add about 1" without stiffening the springs.

its even quite low at the rear...but OK.

to the door tops its just 40". much smaller than i remember.

love it ...

With 4" under the front, what height / gap is there between the side panels and the ground?
4" at the rear of the front wheel arch.....rising to 6" at the rear......

I put a 20mm hard rubber spacer under the top shocker mount.....it lifted the front by 25mm at least.

To give you an idea.....I am about 5'6" high.....
