Can I please have some advice on what to use as a release agent, I have formed the shape required to fill in the holes in the seating tub by using cardboard, I intend to cover it with a thin layer of glass to get the basic form, then glass it properly from the under side when out of the chassis.
I am sure that I read somewhere on here that cling film will work, but thought I'd run it passed you guys before making a mess ....... virgin territory for me this fiber glass lark :-)

Looking good Paul. Is it a type 9 box? Any chance of some pics of the engine mounts when the lump is in? I might go down the zetec route for mine
funny i,m thinkig along the same lines,, but keeping it simple and going on carbs but i need the knowledge for the simplislt ignition wiring ,,, try to do it without a ,fancy,, ECU
Blimey the mounting points must be pretty low on the zetec, just had a look at the ones on mine for the xflow! Cheers for the photos
not too scruffy Paul.....i have been looking seriously at fitting a different engine because my Pinto is not very economical (between 8mpg when thrashed and 20 mpg town driving and a max of 35-40 mpg when driven steady) so the zetec is an option. esp. as its a bolt on to my type 9. However i was looking at the Sigma 1.7 Puma engine.....very very compact O/S exhaust N/S inlet manifold, sat on its sump pan the max height is 23 inches! my pinto has a shortened sump and to the top of the cam cover it is almost 25 inches.....the carb adds a few more inches to that.....
The 1.7 is an all alloy Yamaha based engine and is about half the weight of the Pinto, a bell housing for the type 9 is £180 so.....any have any cheaper options?
I like your engine mounts, if i acquire a Zetec your getting an order....
