Well this Duttoneers is ready, Phaeton filled with petrol, oil levels checked, lights all working, it starts, Northern Duttoneers banner packed. 1 sleep. Leaving the North at 8am with a stop at Knutsford to re-group, another stop before the Midlands just to get used to southern air. we should be there before 11.

3 of us coming along, Ade is in Derby being and Elf so he's meeting us there, and Steve Kerry visiting his Mum tonight in Derby so he'll meet us there as well. Then yourself and anyone else who meets us at Knutsford.

Glad we went Sunday now. It was good to meet you guys down there. Not so impressed with the turnout though. Daisy Dutton run a treat never missed a beat, but struggled to start properley when leaving and on the services at Keele. The starter would not throw in just spun up, then it caught and she fired up. Then on the M62 something came up hard against the trans tunnel, the shock of the impact hit James on the ankle. So today did the usual long trip post checks and found the starter not just loose but only 1 bolt left in and that was on the last 4 or 5 threads. After removing the said starter I found the bendix to be knackered must have lost a bolt going down, and the next one on the M62. I changed the bendix over to a spare i had in the parts dept and it all works well again. So all is well in the world of Northern Duttoneering.

You really must remember to use spanners not superpowers to tighten those nuts Mr Taylor.

We have some new recruits for the Horton Tower excursion, Dave can you mail me a form please?

Thanks to all who made it, I hope Alfie and the other Scots Lads and Lasses made it home in a relatively dry state.

Just mailed it to you.

Got it, forwarded to Pete Loynes and Danny Bosworth.

No chance Adrian !   right good soaking up around Torbay services and then again about 20 miles from home,  but we all made it home with just a few hiccups along the way,     Alfie

now we know what busted that windscreen on the M6   ,,lol,,

What windscreen Mike?

i,m pullin youre leg ade  but about 7 years ago we had a coach windscreen busted on the M6 by a truck wheel nut complete with broken wheel stud  good job the coach didnt have passengers on as the nut and stud ended up on the front passenger seat,,,

Funny that because I once had a railway sleeper bolt which are about 10" long hit my windscreen on the M6 luckly it got stuck on the laminate and the glass stay in. When I got to work in Birmingham I rang Autoglass who said they would put a screen in but not until the following day, on the way back up the M6 after work a brick fell off a skip wagon, bounced in every lane and yes you guessed it full on into my windscreen. This time it bounced of the passenger side shattering the glass but again didn't get into the car. Autoglass man could not believe it until he saw the bolt matched the imprint. Could have been 2 screens in one day.

we were lucky on two counts really  one being no passengers and the other it was an old plaxton bodied leyland with a two piece split screen and it went through the passenger side  ,,left a hole about the size of a tennis ball but the laminate held the majority together ,,
