I am intending to go. I hope to go in the Legerra and had intended to try this camping lark but my wife, who is disabled, had a fall in the supermarket car park and hurt her wrist, her back and her one good knee so she is having difficulty getting about. So I might only manage one day. I shall be travelling up the M5 from Bristol and I might tag along with some of the Bristol Kit Car Club people.

If some West Country folk want to drop in for refreshments I am only a mile or so off the M5 near the junction with the M4. Maybe we could go in a Dutton convoy.

I'm going to be there,  but unfortunatly  the melos wont be, mostly because i will at most have only 2  weeks between the MOT date and the show,  im not going to risk it  so castle combe will be its first show  outing.  plus i need to do some shopping at stoneleigh, , new rear lens housing ,  i broke one today :( reversing into a retaining wall

someone will have a tail light lens to fit, the horizontal figure 8 type dual lens i suppose.

SPANNERS.. lol, you listening? got a spare lens for Martin?

Better to get there  by other means Daryl, than not at all,  now if the show was at the end of May, then it would most likily  make it,  its just one of those things, i,m gutted, but know i made have made  the right  call.  plus  i would not be able to get it taxed in time, and i would rather take the £77 with me  and wait for the free tax to come though.

This is paraphrased from the FBHVC news letter regarding historic VED rating etc.

Applying for the historic vehicle tax class. The following documents will need to be taken to a motor tax post office: 1 The V5C Registration Certificate. In the change section, put the tax class as historic vehicle, and sign and date the V5C (ignore any legacy note relating to DVLA local office)

A V10 Application for a tax disc. On the form indicate a tax class of historic vehicle (ignore any note relating to an insurance certificate requiring to be produced) Any V11 renewal reminder to get a tax disc form should not be used.

MOT certificate

The post office will retain the V5C and post it onto DVLA in order for them to change the tax class to historic vehicle and issue a new V5C. Subsequent V11 renewal reminders should have the tax class of historic vehicle.

MAKE COPIES of everything before you set off.

The post office should issue you with a free tax disc at that point, thats what the V10 is for. This is the same procedure as the LVLO used to do, on the spot tax disc issue. No more waiting in for the postman. May 1st is a thursday. NO MORE EXCUSES :)

Oh, i was under the impression i would have to send off for the tax disc, thanks ade, ok, i had better get my skates on, this bit of information changes everything,

re the tail lamp, i have got it off, there is a  triangular bit on the underside that fell out, but can i find it!!  it should be out there but can i find it?? i might be able to use repair tape  if i can get some,

yes the top and front is ok,  plus the bolts  i was told would take 10 days, took 3,there here now, so im about to get stuck in, wheel off  drill out lower bolt hole  fit bolt, repeat for other side,

ive managed to make a repair using fibreglass and orange paint, it will get me thought the mot,and then i can look for another lens at the show. i might yet make it, assuming i dont find any more issues.that prevent it being MOTed some time next week:)))

Yes, I shall be bringing the Handbag, unless something goes wrong. It means that I won't be able to spend too much money on parts and accessories, but that might be a good thing! I managed to get an hour in the garage last night but I still haven't got my carbs sorted out so I think I'll revert to the twin choke for Stoneleigh and sort something else out after that for Castle Coombe.

when do the gates open for the show, if your driving a kit car and camping, can you get in on the saturday evening?  because if by any chance i  do get the car legal in time  and decide i want to risk it, a leasurly  drive down on the Saturday at at steady pace would be my prefered option . rather than a up at 6 on sunday morning  and pushing it, might not be too wise,

when are most of you intending to arrive?

Well its back to plan B for me, i gave it my best, but fate declaired  that the Melos's debut will be Castle coombe,

so i need to ask a favour, I will be arriving at Coventry  at 1000 on the Sunday Morning, so can someone divert to the station and pick me up please.  i will have a large bag  containing stuff and tent etc,  .

So which day is the AGM and when is the sound off?
