Oh I like that idea. in which case you could use the A6 which would pick up both sides of the country and link North with the South.
Come on guy's lets hear from you, if you are up for it, and as it 2011 it gives everyone a goal to finish the rebuilds.
Keep the Club alive, you know you want to...
I would be up for that, could do the Central Scotland leg, if we have any Duttoneers up in the northern area of Scotland that would be willing to join me
Plan is formulating,
What about the "Dutton Owners Club, John O' Groat's to Land's End Dutton Relay"?
It's approximately 839 miles and could be done in 16 hrs 14 mins if you set your mind to it.
We could do it over a weekend.
Hi Terry, I have been checking the map tonight, and was looking at the A6 through Northern England down towards Cambridge, I think that runs close to the A1M.
If we all decide to organise it, Perhaps each area can plan the roads they know well, so as many DOC members can get involved.
It as been suggested on the DOC forum by Bluebottle, that the relay could be done over a longer period with the Haggis ( this is the token suggested ) passing through as many members hands as possible.
Bluebottles post,
An advantage of doing it as a relay rather than a run with several cars is that it could be done over a long period of time, even a whole year(As long as the haggis hold out!) so there wouldn't be the problem of getting several people to commit to being in the same place at the same time. All people would need to commit to would be collecting the token, driving it to the next member and photographing the handover. Oh, and write up their part of the run for the magazine/website.
Simples!
Doesn't even need huge amounts of organisation, syou could do it via this board- eg "I have the Haggis, I'm in Duttonville, who would like it next?"
I can see that working, and being very interesting. I did say that there would need to be a Rule (sorry I don't like them either) that the Haggis must always move in a Southerly direction.
