Does it just lose power while you are cruising or is it more like a hesitation?
A sticking needle valve in the carb? Maybe if you had a wideband O2 sensor with a digital display in the cockpit you could see the change.

All those things replaced, swapped and reswapped, hence my big dig into unleaded petrol and ethanol. Ethanol traps moisture, it then drops to the bottom of the tank, where the pick-up is, gets sucked in and causes mayhem. That was me on a mission, only to find it wasn't that. The cables breaking down is a possibility, it's the original escort loom, my mate is looking into it.
could be a faulty coil.
first thing i thought was blocked sender like i had on the sierra. fuel pump...? warms up ok. then just cuts out. something is expanding in the warm and loseing connection. battery leads. next time it cuts out wip the fuel feed pip off and check for fuel. ??????
This started out as a quick fix, could be looking at a full rebuild at this rate, but, keep the ideas coming, something may just turn up :-))
had all that out a few days back Paul, when that unleaded hose fell apart. My mate who is a controls engineer spotted a voltage thingy on the volts indicator, could it be something like a tired wire feeding the coil?? or lack of 12 volts somewhere?? If so it will affect the new fit !!
If there is a lot of debris floating around in the tank, it get to the point where it is drawn around the filter restricting fuel flow, carb runs low, loss of power, debris falls away full power again until the next time.
