BTW thanks for collecting the hoist, feel much better knowing its tucked away in your back garden.

wash the repair area's with acetone before you attempt the repair, it will dissolve the old resin out and leave the fibre glass mat intact and the repair will be long lasting and very crack resistant.

The cross member cleaned up and ready for welding the steering rack bracket back on. I don't know who did this job first, what a crap job. I can't ever imagine it passing a MOT as it was, even before the the bracket broke off.
So I am going to re-weld both brackets, then at least I know it will be safe.
Also repaired the front edge of the bonnet which had been cut out I think to access the bonnet release. It didn't look right, now it does. I haven't fibre glassed since building the Phaeton, I surpose it's like riding a bike, you never forget.
The light is on now at the other end of the tunnel. Next job is to repair the bulkhead where the steering column comes through, this again is a total botch up, I think it was cut away to clear the Pinto exhaust manifold. keep watching.
