I meant that BMW never get the numbers right. Also I could have sworn that I wrote "He said it used to be the old M3 engine". Must be too late - go to bed James.
Back to the M series donor, my son had a BMW 335. It did 0-60 in 5.4s (that was 0.1 faster than the manual). The gear changes took just 30 milli-seconds. The 335 engine was a turbocharged 3 litre (BMW never seem to get it right) with 310bhp. I said that it used to be the old M3 engine.
Come on Ade, is it an M3?
It is the STP-Paxton Turbocar developed by Ken Wallis, a relative of Barnes Wallis, for Indianapolis in 1966. It didn't race until 1967 and led the race until it broke down 8 miles from the finish. 550 hp and 3 seconds throttle lag apparently.
No idea just pulled the image, but wouldn't that be fun in a Dutton? Richard Noble you'd best run and hide
Is that an M3 that you are thinking of, Ade?
What ever is that Dave? Looks like a gas turbine car. I remember that Lotus dabbled with a gas turbine for a while but I don't recognise that one.
Not a gas blower then?
I was thinking M series write off as a donor, semi auto flappy paddle box. may have to tack a bit of extra metal in there to hold it all straight...
Type R boys, we're coming
Could that be the S4? Street sleeper, Track or straight line?
