New wheels, big tyres, not impressed.

I've used 13 - 15 on both the Legerra and Sierra over the past few years. Found the lack of sidewall on the 15's a bit harsh until I went to 195/60/15's.
I have found one company that still make both 185/60/13 and 205/60/13 in the same tread pattern. Its the same as I use on the transit which grips well and corners well even when driven aggressively (is there another way to drive a transit?) and the next set of rims I refurb will be getting these fitted to see how they perform on a lighter car.

185/70x13 track day tyres used to work especially well but as the production of 10, 12 & 13" tyres winds down the availability of anything suitable in these sizes presents a problem. The widest range of 'sticky' road tyres is in 15" so that would seem to be the way to go, the wheels certainly look good but the choice of tyres and suitable dampers will have much more of an effect on the performance.
i always found the cars too light to get any benifit from big tyres..... i think that 165 or 175 up front is about right and 175 or 185 at the rear.... i have found that wider tyres less grippy especially in the wet.
