I'll start a forum discussion on this as it seems a bit lost here - not sure of the etiquette but I'm sure someone will correct my mistakes.

If you have the 38dgas carb and its in good order then keep it, decent 32/36dgav's are getting hard to find these days. The DGAS will need to be rejetted to suit your engine as they are way out and will give poor fuel economy.

I will try and dig out my jet settings for a DGAS on stock 2.0L at the weekend.

On my car the carb yours has made no real difference to the performance (a little in mid range) so the original carb went back on it gives significantly better fuel economy. the standard carb is good for 130hp+ anyway.

Moving the radiator to the front of the car will pay dividends. radiators in the position of yours are very difficult to arrange for propper cooling. i use a Rover 1.4 radiator and a vw golf/polo expansion tank. very easy to fit and reliable.

The engine runs and I believe the last owner fitted a fast road cam along with a twin choke (not progressive) weber from a 3 litre Capri - so I'm sure it's going to need some setting up. I haven't checked compression or anything else yet as I prioritised the mods needed for me to get in the driving seat.
I agree with the hose comment, I also have re-wiring to do. I decided on a full re-wire as recent wiring was poor quality and I couldn't trust any of it.
I hope for decent performance without any major engine tuning or fitting a modern power plant. I want to do some track days and maybe the odd sprint/hill climb and see what modern cars I can embarrass !

A 2 litre Pinto should get you to 60 in about 7 seconds, so it is good a reliable performance. I would look to re-route that return hose, which goes from the carburettor auto choke back to the water pump, to avoid the exhaust manifold. Other than that it is looking in nice condition.
