loosely assembled and trial position, it all goes up and down as it should, the welding magnet are holding the top arms. I'm about to fab a threaded block, if I could find the M14 tap :-)

My parts database hasn't a clue what a trunnion is lol.

I'll have to dig out the old paper quinton hazell catalogue

I cocked up, and have 're read the question. No they are not the same part. Top is ballpoint, bottom is Trunnion. Yes they will fit the early cars. Sorry for the confusion, it is very hot down here and I'm wilting.

So if I was refurbing an S2 I would need 4 in total?

Trunnion on the bottom and ball joint on the top

Does the original Triumph setup on the B / S1 and S2 take the same ball joint top and bottom?

so far I can revert to "standard" if I cock it all up. The guy in Tavistock gave me some ruined lower wishbones to play with. The Mazda stuff  can be salvaged and resold, so no big losses, just the time spent "experimenting" and if it does work, I will be happy chap. Mk2 steering track rod ends do fit Mazda upright, Triumph ones do not, however, Morris thousand ones do and they have a fine thread, so may fit the Triumph rack, so another standard mod could be trialed. I'm enjoying myself
