There was a thread on a Transit forum where a guy was making adaptor plates to fit Essex V6s to MT5s, I think he was charging a little under £200 for them. A Zeta doesn't have the torque of the V6 but it is lighter and revs better. Which is best really depends on what you want and how you like to drive. But for handling, you are probably better off with the Zetec.

Unfortunately, the V6 would need an adaptor plate to mate with the MT75.

I'm a zetec fan myself, slotted the 130 version into a Mk2 fiesta in the reasonably recent past so I'm definitely an advocate. But I also like the sound of a 150bhp + from a 2.5L Ford V6...

Dave, you said what I meant about zetec's. Like the meerkat says, simples!! Btw my s1 only has 138bhp (maybe) and that's a heavy v6 so a standard zetec would piss all over it but it's still quick.

I have a low milage (3000 from new!) Excellent runner Rs 2000 pinto about to go on ebay if your keen to have a good one.

The problems between both the pinto and cvh is the cost of getting those horses both have the potential for big hp.....at a large cost.....OR.......fit a zetec....130 hp from the donor and an almost free 40 hp to add by mucking with the inlet manifold.......just to get 130 hp from a pinto is £1000 against £140 for a zetec from a scrapper......no brainer really.

If its a choice between the engines the lighter one wins every time. .....;-) I have a good 1.8 zetec for effectively free going in my car.

1.8 zetec????. Even standard it's better than that old technology. I'm doing 2.0 silver top on carbs and should still be reliable. Cheap too. Just a thought.

Oh, that could cause a few caustic comments Dave :-))

Are you sure about that Dave? I'd personally be happier with a Pinto up front. At least you have the potential to release a few more ponies there!
