cut out the lump in the middle and cap the ends, move support back and drill and fit new bolts so the mount is under the chassis.

I forgot yours was triumph Steve, agree with Dave though, smart idea and is that galvanised?

Wouldn't be able to do that in mine as the box is in the gap between the rails. It would have to duck under the box and replace the ford mount completely.

The Phaeton has the same mounts as the Legerra had so I will work out a new improved mount when I am doing the chassis on that.

That is quite a nifty gear box bracket you have there, and not a bad idea actually. that mount looks the same as mine oddly, and mounted in a different way to mine.

How intelligent were Ford? Using a rubber compound for the gearbox mount that went soggy and very gooey when contaminated by engine or gearbox oil... awesome spare parts sales strategy.
