Oi! I just seen that, me and the Germans get on fine thank you, I can speak a bit of the lingo after my exploits working over there. I was there when the wall came down, a bit North, but right on the border. That was some party. Lost my mate for a week! He selling bananas in the East, true, came back covered in lipstick :-)
Martin I saw Yes live in concert while there. Great days, where's the schnapps ??
@ Patrick - I'll stick your name on those parts for one month :) let me know if you decide to have them.
We also have a spare parts problem as a club we have nowhere to keep them and buildings are not cheap to rent over here. The things we do for our beloved cars :)
I wish I had something like this in my backyard. Dutton parts are pretty rare and expensive down here. 750€ for a melos body, that needs some work - pfuff. Let me sort out how I might collect the shell. I'd pm you if I know something new.
With oldtimer certification I did not mean a regulation concerning export. Here in Germany you can get an extra certification for the car itself, saying the car is in an original condition.
@Patrick - I have a few Phaeton body parts from various cars. There is a 'new' S4 shell in red going on that chassis. The rest of the parts will also be used on that body when I'm ready. It isnt old enough to be exported under the 'oldtimer' regulations.
@Martin... careful or I be bringing to down and helping them...
@ Adrian: I'm definitely interested. Since I want to head for an oldtimer certification (which requires original parts), the Dutton shell might save me a lot of reasoning with the inspector. What happens to the rest of car?
@ melosman: Ok, thanks for the clearification. Mine is a P .... For the same reason given in the message to Adrian, the Dutton shell might save some trouble.
No, it keeps the books straight using a Phaeton shell.
Yes I do have a spare in the lockup, I wouldn't have offered to sell it to Patrick if I didn't. Plonker :)
Of course I could fit it to your melos if you got fed up with the abuse...
Better to use a Phaeton shell so it all matches.
If it doesn't have the pointy nosecone it isnt a Phaeton... just my opinion.
That rear tub will be another Phaeton that now looks like all the other lotus clones then. Boils my blood...
I only have one spare nose and it goes with the body, all or nothing as no point keeping odd bits...
Cost for the nosecone, bodytub and bootlid (stripped bare, no lights, screen etc) would be £150 and you would have to collect. This is a yellow shell that has been painted and needs sanding back and repainting.
Another interesting part I discovered is a rear part and tub of S3 in France. Rear Part That'd leave open, how to fix the ladies face.
@steve: At first glance it might be so.
@ melosman: Then it might be worth a try. How strict are your papers in britain? German papers include several details of the car, e.g. number of seats, dimension and weight of the car, which might differ for the melos.
@ James. Yes, it's in especially the low profile (175/60 R13). The papers yet allow me to mount 205/60 R13 and 215/60 R15.
