Dutton Kit Cars and their owners

My mate Jack 30+ years ago with his Dutton which had an Alfa Engine. Ade considers it a Type B Plus whilst other people think it is a B or Mk2. Jack like us all now a lot older but has just bought himself a Morgan which he considers to be no more than a Dutton with doors.

B+......... recessed fuel cap, bonnet ridges, indicators on nose cone, very short rear end, scuttle top/windscreen as B+ and Malaga B+ not as S1 and later when the screen was a lot closer to the clocks.

B+ same as mine looked before it was, um, customised by a hedgerow. Rear arches give it away.

According to "The A-Z of Kit Cars" the B Type usually had Triumph Herald/Spitfire engine but customers could opt for an Alfa Romeo Twin Cam or a Kent instead. The B + , which had slightly larger body and stronger chassis normally had Ford engines - mostly Crossflows but occasionally V6's.

With an Alfa engine, it seems more likely to be a B but nothing is certain with Duttons.

B+, I think :-) I used to have hair like that 30+ years ago. Good bit of paintwork, very "period". Like the old skool thing.
