Dutton Kit Cars and their owners

Well looks like the car is just about ready for the MOT. Fitted a drivers side mirror today, fitted air filters and airbox, sorted the fuel pipes and filter and fitted the fuel gauge properly. Took it for a quick spin on private roads and all seems well apart from the throttle getting stuck and a high idle, adjusted the idle and fixed the spring so just tyre pressures left.

Fingers crossed for friday. Only thing that seems a bit dodgy is the handbrake. Carbs may need setting up as it seemed a bit gutless or maybe the overdrive was left switched on!

Well i've covered about 90 miles in it so far, took it to work today. The handbrake stopped working earlier but it was just a bolt on the mechanism on the rear axle had worked loose. Did a compression test warm engine 165, 180, 175, 170, 170, 170. From driving it i've worked out, speedo is miles out, overdrive seems to be sticking and engine could do with a bit of a tune. Handles well, stops well and i've had a bit of side ways fun!

That'd be nice Dave, maybe later in the year! Stoneleigh is gonna be the first decent trip so just trying to get a few miles on it now to sort any potential issues. Did a few miles this evening, seems to be running reasonably well had some good fun! was really impressed with the brakes for what they are

Well I dropped it off for the MOT this morning. Not picked the car up yet, but it passed!!! Couple of advisorys - steering shaft too close to carbs, o/s/r handbrake cable too close to exhaust and wiring too close to alternator pulley. Gonna try and get it taxed and go for a spin before the end of the day.

Well done Pete.
Its such a good feeling when all that hard graft and brainache pays off with a single sheet of paper from the MOT tester. Best of luck for friday, Keep us posted.
