Oh yeah a big thanks to Graham for giving up his day (and to his wife Gill) it might not sound like much but like myself Graham drive chemical tankers and he is usually away from home all week, so to give me a whole day of his time off is a big deal.
today i will do some tinkering and get some ducting for the radiator, but i need to help in the house. we are having the hose fully rewired (very messy) and the double glazing redone (also messy)
I was looking at potential donor cars in the car park at a show that I went to today. The show was "Art In Action" at Waterperry House (Oxford) and No, I didn't just look at the cars. Anyway, I thought that a Volvo V70 was a pretty likely candidate as its screen is large, rectangular and pretty flat. They might not be a cheap place to start from though.
You need to ask Mark Young as a tool for the Legerra was made a few years ago not sure which windscreen company it was but they should be available for £200 - £300
I have a screen which is unattached and resting in the frame of the black leggy on the drive, waybe we could 'lend it' to pilkingtons?
Legerra screen is Dutton specific
Pilkington were at Stoneliegh and were very keen to get into the market ,If you have the jigs you can have your screen made where you want by whoever you want
There should be an article about custom glass in the kit car press soon ,cant remember which mag it was but they did an interview with Pilkington before doing an interview on the stand I was helping on
Why don't we just ask Tim?
Danny Bosworth and I think that it is likely that Tim Dutton used a car windscreen he could find and cut it down....if you look at a Legerra screen it does look like it is a trimmed screen......it occurred to us that tim may have planned to get builders to obtain and cut down a screen.....and changed his mind since the service that Auto windscreens offered was so reasonable.
so which laminated screen is it likely he used (if that is the way he went)
there is another problem......i have spoken to the peerless owners club who have recently had to have jigs made for some of their cars. they were using auto windscreens and the day they went bust one of the owner club committee members had a phone call suggesting that he would be at his desk clearing it out and the back door will be left open.......they were able to recover the jigs they paid for. the factory in finland where the screens are made have said they may not use the jigs and insist that new ones are made......
