Dave,
Would I be correct in thinking black top zetec with the water pump slightly off to one side?
Lots of things going on at home at the moment and i have sat back and looked again at my projects.....
i have a 2.0L pinto carb and a Xflow manifold and two 1.8L Zetec engines....one complete with a 104 pin ecu, and one with a 60 pin ecu with various inlet manifold bits and loom plugs missing....so i am looking into what needs to be done to connect it (it has the PATS system intregated into it) ......so i thought......My Legerra will be the Mondeo 104 pin ECU and engine.....but the Phaeton need not be......its not going to be my choice of car for long distance touring.
so do i persist in sorting out the 60 pin ECU (which there seems to be a lot less information on the net) or fit the carb manifold and salvage the fuel tank for the Legerra? I have two 6 gallon carb fuel tanks. it would make completing the Phaeton quicker..... And also the time to complete the Legerra as most of the complcated injection parts are now made.
in my box of bits in the garage i have at least two complete EDIS units from Fiesta's one has a MAP sensor with it.....so it would seem to be the easier option. ONLY it seems that the EDIS system is a fixed advance setting at 10 degrees and to make it vary it needs a programmable ignition unit.....hmm.....the megajolt is an option but pricey ....on a dutton anyway:-)
so i looked at DIY programmable options.....
Jaycar this is a link to an Austrailian site (who also sell to the uk from uk bases) their kit works out at £30. much more like it and i am very tempted.......VERY.
but then i found this site.......
http://www.gofastforless.com/ This is very appealing to me, i like to have a go making stuff.......not that i wont also just buy from Jaycar.....its needs to be done soon after all. But the site above will also be the basis for a full injection system...and the prospect of going it alone for fuel injection really does appeal to me.
So....Carbs on the Phaeton or scrap yards and get it running on the fuel injection?
Shame you came this far with it, personally I'd carry on and inject it. You may get a better response and more accurate information on a Locost site, they play with things like zetec over there, most on here couldn't set a plug gap without asking twenty questions :-))
not very nice steve . ;-)
whats a plug gap. my sinks got a plug gap....:-)
Dave if you want info on using the stock Zetec ECU - both the 104 pin and the 60 pin I have lots as I've done both types - and they work very well
I don't have time to type very much here but I can tell you that they are both EEC-V types, that you dont need the edis using but you do need a MAF sensor, key and key detector ring. Actually a full engine bay wiring harness would be very handy with these. Oh yes and the instruments on the 60 pin type are all digital ie no separate temp, fuel, revs or speedo output. However that makes it all quite easy to use a focus instrument pack!
if you want a really good but really complex wiring diagram for both types you can get one here ftp://ftp.idm.ru/pub/ffclub/2003_5_Focus_WD.pdf
More info later if you want it
