Dutton Kit Cars and their owners

some pics of the rebuild process,

the top trailing arm bracket is broke......

the diff is sloping back a little (looking up) so that will need sorting.......

As you can see there isn't a lot of bracing in an S1 chassis, that will be sorted.

old...but new.

the guy i bought it from in 2009 i think bought it for his car some years ago and never included it with the car when he sold it...it came with new doors (used on my green S1) and a tonneau cover which i sold on.

naughty polyfacto :-)

Long gone....guy sold up.....now monsoon hoods..
When you fit the hood do it inside
Best if you fit the front then I have one of those small fan heaters, put that on max an place in the footwell.
Drape the hood over the roll bar so it forms a hot box an just leave it for an hr or so so the material really softens up an will become VERY flexible an stretch ( not sure 1" ? But it might make it)
I make the centre line on the hood an get that on the centre line of the car an work from that round to the front
Keep the heater running while you work an when you Finnish remove an let the material cool an "set" overnight
If you fit a hood cold first sunny day out it will droop
Cheers Rob. ...I will post pictures of the hood I have...the "darts" are very poorly made.
I have been warming the hood to stretch it but I don't think the door top joint will ever be good.

Soft top was annoying me so I dug the hard top out of storage.....it will at least get the doors correctly fitted and allow me to get the car on the road over winter.

The hard top looks good. The soft top must be for a different make altogether.

This is the soft top.....some warming might help....might.

It looks like it was designed to fit over a complete folding mechanism rather than a couple of roof bars. Also designed for someone with a long neck...

Someone had a bad day when they made that hood !
Just looks "wrong"

no really!

i dont think that even the fan heater trick will save this one..... :-)

Door hinges.......i have 8 right hand ones.....they dont do left hand hinges.

asked about and found someone who just sells left hand hinges, maybe they should talk to each other.....

so back on the computer and look again. Europa spares sell two left hand hinges and two right hand hinges for £8.00....? so why couldn't i find them the other week?
