Dutton Kit Cars and their owners

The radiator on my S2 needs replacing. Any ideas what the current one is from? It doesn't seem to leak but the previous owner said it gets hot pretty quick in traffic. I might just try a coolant flush bin the viscous fan and fit a proper electric job, what you reckon?

Hi Pete, my B+ has escort mk1 rs2000 rad with electric fan, no over heating problems. Paul
Thanks Paul, was looking at some escort ones. Don't suppose you'd be able to get me a pic?
I had same problem with the X-flow when I built the car. Flushed, jet washed tried allsorts, Kenlowe fitted. if it not run in an age, the sedement sets like concrete. I spent £40.00 on new recon rad, job sorted.
From your photo looks like an Escort rad would do.
Hi Peter i had loads of problems with my melos overheating, it had been stading for about 12 years.
Soon as i got to 60 up went the temp gauge, boiled over loads of times.
I took my radiator to specialist in Ipswich. They pressure tested rad "knackered" they had escort and cortina rads in stock.
Replaced rad and fitted some duct from bottom of bumper, have alook at picture - problem solved.
Because rad is so far from grill air flows around rad and not through.
Lots of guys have made box from grill to rad to push air through.
Electric fan may help, but you still need the air flow.

Terry
I have fitted a Rover 214 radiator and fan, with a VW golf expansion bottle it was a very easy fit and works very well, even on the hottest day of summer last year. I run a 2.0L pinto, in an S1
